The Student Education Association (SEA) along with Assistant Professor of Education, Shannon Delgado volunteered their time at Feed My Starving Children in Schaumburg Illinois. To a starving child, hope can only truly begin once a reliable source of nutritious food has been established. During our volunteer time not only did we have a lot of fun, were able to pack 140 boxes, equal to 30,240 meals, which is enough to feed 82 children each year.
Southwood Middle School PTO Family Fun Night 2017
The Country Club Hills school district help a family fun night that the Student Education Association helped volunteer at. We were in charge of face painting in one classroom while other parents and staff were in separate rooms in charge of serving food, reading books, and watching over the kids in the game room.
Bryant field day 2016
The COD SEA helped to host the Bryant Elementary School Field Day event! We all drove to Bryant at 8:00 AM and helped with their Field Day from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM. This day was fun and filled with great people, food, games, music, prizes and much more. Some of our SEA volunteers were face painting and they did an amazing job. Others, were helping out with various games such as the bouncy houses and more. Overall, it was an eventful day and one filled with a lot of fun and excitement. Check out the photos below! Bryant Field Day spring 2015
During the Spring of the 2015 school year, the SEA went to one of the Chicago Public Schools, Bryant, to help out with their field day. This was a great hands-on experience for SEA members and officers to work with children and the Bryant school to make their field day a great one! We all learned a lot and had so much fun doing this. OctoberFest - District 152 Harvey
On October 1st, the SEA volunteered their time in Harvey School District 152. The district was hosting a district-wide parent meeting, along with crafts, story time, face painting, and a bonfire. We all had such a great time bonding, face painting, reading stories to children, and much more. Here are some pictures from the event! (October 1st, 2015)
Making strides of dUpage cancer walk
On October 18th, the SEA collaborated with the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society to help volunteer for the American Cancer Society, Making Strides cancer walk. Everyone woke up bright and early to be at the walk at 6:30 AM. Some of the volunteer positions included, bus MC's, greeters, advocacy, registration, and much more. We all came dressed in pink and ready to volunteer with great enthusiasm. Below are some pictures from the cancer walk! (October 18, 2015)
Paper tigers viewing
On March 8th, COD SEA hosted the Paper Tigers Viewing from 5:00-8:00 pm. "Paper Tigers is an intimate look into the lives of selected students at Lincoln High School, an alternative school that specializes in educating traumatized youth...the film intimately examines the inspiring promise of Trauma Informed Communities - a movement that is showing great promise in healing youth struggling with the dark legacy of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES)" (papertigersmovie.com). After the movie, we had a Question and Answer Session with experts. We had a great turnout and the movie was absolutely a must see! Check out some of our photos from the event! (March 8, 2016).
